TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said that the construction of infrastructure buildings in the new capital city will require a "down payment" or initial budget of Rp865 billion.
"Especially for basic infrastructure that need to be built using the state budget," Basuki said in a joint meeting of the House of Representatives' Commission V in Jakarta, Wednesday, August 29.
Basuki said that the budget plan had not been allocated in the 2020 State Budget draft. However, he said that it is possible that the preliminary funding would be sourced from budget posts that had been allotted according to their given ceilings.
According to the minister, the master plan and spatial planning for the new capital will be worked on in 2019 and completed in 2020. The construction of basic infrastructure and facilities such as roads, drainage, dams, reservoirs, and clean water will begin in 2020 and expected to finish in 2023.
"The groundbreaking is planned for 2020," he said.
The government had said that preparing the capital city would require an investment of Rp466 trillion. Right now, the government has designed the new capital to be built on an area of 180,000 hectares.
